Eligibility criteria
For an applicant to be eligible, he/she must prove that they work remotely through telecommunication means and be third-country nationals.
Additionally, eligible applicants must fall under one of the following three categories:
- work for an employer registered in a foreign jurisdiction and have a legal contract of work in place;
- conduct business activities for a company registered in a foreign country and of which applicant is partner/shareholder;
- offer freelance or consulting services, mainly to clients whose permanent establishments are in a foreign country and with whom the applicant has contracts.
The applicant must prove that a gross monthly income threshold of €3,500 is being generated through his/her commercial activities.
Applicants must also be in possession of:
- a valid travel document
- health insurance covering health-related risks in Malta
- a property rental or purchase agreement in Malta
- pass a background validation (due diligence) check
Dependants
- Applicants are able to submit applications concerning their family member(s). This can be done during or after their application for a Nomad Residence Permit or Visa.
- Spouse of the Applicant
- Applicant’s children or of his/her spouse who at the time of the application are less than 18 years old
- Applicant’s children who at the time of application are more than 18 years old but proves to be principally dependant on the applicant or on his/her spouse during the time of application.
